A change can affect more than the work item where it was requested. Velocize relates requirements, decisions, delivery records, evidence and operating consequences through typed trace relationships. Reviewers can navigate in both directions and assess the scope of a change without reducing product continuity to links buried in comments.
Retain the meaning of each relationship
A requirement implemented by a work item is different from one verified by a test or constrained by a contract. Relationships preserve source and target identities, direction and provenance. Asserted, derived, translated and synchronized meaning remain distinguishable.
This makes it possible to investigate why a record exists and which decision depends on it. A suggested relationship from AI remains subject to the appropriate review rather than becoming an authoritative dependency merely because it was generated.
Assess impact against a controlled baseline
Engineering change control connects the proposed change with affected records and baseline scope. Review can identify implementation work, evidence, supplier exchanges and release decisions requiring attention. The resulting disposition retains the authority and rationale for proceeding or holding.
A change does not silently renew all dependent approvals. Re-verification and residual risk remain visible, and the reviewed configuration is retained so later investigations can reconstruct what was accepted.
Carry consequences into delivery and operations
Customer commitments, supplier scope and incidents can participate in the same trace model where their meaning depends on the changed record. The organization can connect an engineering adjustment with the operational or commercial obligations it affects.
Trace completeness still depends on the relationships and evidence available. Velocize exposes governed links and gaps; it does not claim that an unrecorded physical dependency is automatically known.
Application scenario and operating value
A customer changes the operating condition of an already accepted feature. Identify the source requirement and prior baseline, then inspect the relationships to design decisions, implementation and verification. The initial question is which accepted claims relied on the old condition.
The organization gains a scoped set of consequences and accountable decisions rather than a large list of undifferentiated links. Each affected record retains its own owner and approval meaning, while the change remains navigable across the lifecycle.
- Preserve the prior accepted baseline.
- Follow typed relationships in both directions.
- Assign each consequence to an owner.
