An overlay is a context layer that interprets or constrains how an existing capability is used. Velocize’s overlay management applies those layers in a defined scope, with activation history, compatibility review and accountable exceptions. The same requirement, evidence and decision records can serve different operating conditions without becoming unrelated versions of the product.
What does an overlay change?
It can refine required evidence, review obligations, allowed transitions, visible controls or permitted AI action. Standards and methods, operating models, industries, personas, lifecycle states, evidence, deployment and AI each provide different context families.
An overlay does not create a new capability or commercial package. Execution profiles compose an operating posture using the relevant roles, stages and overlay interpretation. The effective result remains explainable.
How do several overlays coexist?
Velocize considers scope, specificity and restrictiveness while retaining mandatory product obligations. A narrower or stronger applicable control can tighten a broader default. An unresolved conflict stays visible and requires an authorized decision.
Derived bundles and activation scopes support local tailoring with history. A child scope cannot silently remove inherited approval, evidence, security or privacy duties. Waivers remain bounded and attributable.
What does the organization gain?
An internal delivery and a regulated customer program can use the same product foundation with different evidence and review depth. Teams reuse connected records while specialists retain responsibility for applicability and acceptance.
AI follows the resulting authority boundary. A change in method does not grant it broader permission, and a model cannot choose a more permissive overlay to avoid review. Human owners can inspect the effective rules and the reason for exceptions.
