TECHNICAL GUIDE / EXECUTION PROFILES

How can you change an execution profile while a project is running?

Change working posture without losing roles, approvals, evidence or history. A practical Velocize guide to activation, inheritance and controlled transition.

Switch posture without erasing history: Current baseline; Transition review; New scoped profile; Preserved history.

A project may start with ordinary team delivery and later require customer acceptance, stronger security review or a formal evidence baseline. Velocize lets authorized people change the execution posture as those needs evolve. A profile is more than a board layout: it combines stages, roles, approvals, evidence and AI participation. The safe transition preserves existing meaning and makes the newly effective obligations explainable. It does not turn an unfinished item into an accepted one by changing its label.

01

1. Identify what is changing

State the reason for the transition and its intended scope. A cadence change, a new customer obligation and a higher assurance need affect different controls. Decide which projects, workflows or artifact families should inherit the profile and which should remain unchanged.

Velocize separates profile identity, activation and effective resolution. The owner can explain the current posture and the requested difference. A new profile is a governed choice about how work proceeds, not an instruction to rewrite the product’s core role or record meaning.

02

2. Review inherited obligations

Inspect approval, security, privacy and evidence duties already in force. A more specific profile may tighten them. A lighter local preference cannot silently cancel a mandatory inherited control. Unresolved conflicts require an authorized decision and an explicit exception where permitted.

Velocize’s overlay and profile history preserves the sources of the effective posture. This is useful when a project moves into a customer program whose acceptance conditions differ from the original internal workflow.

03

3. Resolve people and AI assignments

A new posture can require a validation specialist, an approval role or a stricter AI boundary. Identify who supplies those roles and how open work will be handed over. Naming a person in a transition plan does not automatically grant authority.

Velocize resolves role-to-stage bindings and human-only, assisted or bounded AI participation. Changing a model does not change the role contract. Keep the human accountable owner and applicable review duties explicit during the transition.

04

4. Establish the transition baseline

Identify existing records, applicable evidence and gaps that need review under the new scope. Preserve the old decision context. A report created for an earlier configuration does not become valid for the new obligation merely because the profile changed.

Use Velocize’s simulation and evidence readiness to inspect the proposed path and missing responsibilities. Simulation helps examine a change; it is not a real approval or proof that all outstanding work has been completed.

05

5. Activate and inspect the resulting work

Record the activation decision and review an actual work item through its new path. Confirm that the expected roles, evidence and escalation remain visible. Communicate the effective change to participants rather than relying on a different screen appearance.

The benefit is the ability to adapt the operating model without migrating the project history into another product. Human owners can change posture when needed while preserving traceability, accountability and the stronger obligations already in force.
